Contribution from H.H. Prince Badr bin Abd Allah bin Mohammed bin Farhan Al Saud and the Saudi Ministry of Culture for the restoration and raise of awareness of Hajji Ahmed’s cordiform globe. In the Library are preserved both the wooden matrixes engraved in 1559 and a print of 1795. The work presents a cordiform projection of the known globe, enriched with a text in the Turkish-Ottoman language.

Contribution from Silvia Bracher for the restoration of the musical scores of Domenico Scarlatti, harpsichordist and composer of the Baroque age, preserved in the Biblioteca Marciana. The series of 15 manuscripts handing down 496 harpsichord sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti was purchased by Marciana in 1835, from the noble Contarini family of San Beneto.

Contribution from the International Friends of the Marciana Library for the digitization of manuscripts kept in the Library, necessary for remote consultation especially in these times of reduced mobility. Among the works collected, the Liber de simplicibus by the physician Nicolò Roccabonella, magnificently illustrated by the painter Andrea Amadio (15th century), is a capital testimony, at the beginning of the 15th century, of the renewed interest of art in nature.

Prince Badr bin Abd Allah bin Mohammed bin Farhan Al Saud and the Saudi Ministry of Culture for the restoration of the wooden frame of the Fra’ Mauro World Map, dating back to around 1450. Composed by the monk Mauro, it can be considered one of the most important documents of Venetian cartography in the period of transition between the medieval conception of the world and the new knowledge brought by voyages of exploration and navigation.
